Arkib Negara Malaysia or National Archives of Malaysia (NAM) is an important place to Malaysia, as it is a place where it keeps all the Malaysia treasures. What sort of "treasures' are there in NAM. The national recorded documents are invaluable treasures that must be protected and preserved for the future references.
The NAM's vision is to become an outstanding National Centre for Archives and Archival Research. Its mission is to make sure the enduring and invaluable national records are preserved. It plays an important role in providing research and reference services to researchers or students. It is also meant to communalize and popularize archival heritage.
The summary of the history NAM
- 1 December 1957 it was named as Pejabat Rekod Awam or Public Record Officies
- 1963 changed the name to the Department of National Archives
- 1966 the National Archives Act was formed
- 1982 NAM was transferred to the current location
NAM headquarters is at Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur.
